Science competitions in general and MINDSTORMS competitions specifically are indeed great for kids. I'm glad to hear your students and your son love NXT robots, and I hope they can learn a lot from them--while having fun!

I think that science competitions are great for kids. They not only help to develop critical thinking and problem skills, but they also introduce kids to the world of science and technology. I really like the Lego Mindstorm NXT kits. They offer all the pieces that you need to create a number of different robots, including robots that respond to sound and movement. My students love them, and so does my son.

Kristi,

It is crazy, isn't it? I'm sure that the robot could beat me. I'll leave the Rubik's Cube solving to the robots. :)

Wow thats crazy! I still cant figure the cube out for the life of me. But thats pretty cool! I know a few people that can do it in under 5 seconds. One person is a rocket scientist, the other person is the rocket scientists son, and the other two people are my cousins, whom have REALLY high IQs. So maybe it has something to do with IQs? I dont know.

My IQ is pretty high but I still cant figure it out!

Mike,

I have not personally experimented with using LSynth to create NXT cables. However, I would suggest using the following forums to get more information:

http://news.lugnet.com/cad/

http://news.lugnet.com/robotics/

Thanks,

I am wondering if you have any suggestions on getting and compiling the source for the LSynth with NXT cables?

Not a chance, sorry David. Its way cool but this NXT stuff is way beyond me and my 10yo son :) I would love to try but its best I don't even start, regular Star Wars Lego is expensive enough!! Star Wars Lego Minifigures
